The Pisces Full Moon Lunar Eclipse
Virgo season has arrived. I know the air betwixt is busy with talk of this lunar eclipse and its square to Uranus, our agent of disruptive chaos. But eclipses rarely move in straight lines, and this one holds more than one surprise for those of us standing at the threshold.
On August 27th, the eclipsed Full Moon in Pisces dances near Fomalhaut. Her square with rebel Uranus is a friction point, yes—but where there is friction, there is the possibility for something entirely new to catch fire.
Harvesting the Magick
After the literal, or metaphorical, departures of the Leo solar eclipse on the 12th of August, we reached a quiet agreement within ourselves. An equilibrium that let us rest in the balance and catch our breath, even if only for a moment.
And now, we’ve spent the days leading up to this lunar eclipse in the oh-so-satisfying discomfort of new growth, moving into fresh territory made possible by Jupiter’s expansive reach. Our hearts are still tender—carefully watching, full of anticipation as our progress takes shape.
The eclipse events reveal a boon, something we value, or once did. It arrives as a resource, an opportunity, or a long-sought confirmation—a material manifestation of the nodes rebalancing. Moon-Rahu conjunctions are complex, but undeniably potent. We are reminded that when we let go of a specific outcome and widen our vision, what we actually need is within arm's reach. This gift may feel bittersweet, delivered with the irony that demonstrates how magical we already are, but how often we get in our own way.
In the days that follow, we feel new. We’re filled with buzzy aliveness as we recognize how we’ve been moving in this direction all along. We surrendered all of our preparation to the moment itself, and the pulse of inspiration renews our faith in our own intuitive process.

The astrological anatomy of this lunation
The Sun entered the sign of Virgo on Saturday, August 22nd, followed by Mercury on Tuesday, August 25th.
Mercury’s presence is very helpful to the Sun, but given Mercury’s proximity, we may find our thought process a little fried or frantic. Those that I know to be in either a Gemini or Virgo year with Mercury as their Time Lord have found it a little hectic lately with a few unexpected bumps and loose ends as Mercury passed by the South Node.
We’re approaching a moment of clarity though, so hold on a little longer. On Thursday, August 27th, Mercury conjoins the Sun in Virgo, in cazimi, at 10:03 AM PT. This is the planet Mercury’s rebirth moment, and all things Mercurial are back on track once more.
The Moon conjoins the North Node, Rahu, before entering Pisces at 12:03 PM PT, and then opposes the Sun in Virgo, giving us the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 9:18 PM PT. This happens at 4°54’ of Pisces, which is conjunct the fixed star Fomalhaut, the watch tower of the South.
Ptolemy considered Fomalhaut to “be of the nature of Venus and Mercury,” and Bernadette Brady mentions that it “contains a touch of the mystic, a sense of magic, and inspires high ideals or lofty visions.” The fixed stars lie beyond our own wandering stars (aka the planets in our solar system), and emit light themselves rather than reflect our own Sun’s light. So I find this rather interesting, and it adds even more otherworldly potency to the Wild Card moment that eclipses already bring.
In the late evening on Thursday the 27th, the Moon in Pisces opposes Mercury in Virgo, and her square to Uranus in Gemini perfects.
Just after midnight, early Friday, August 28th, Uranus in Gemini sees a square from Mercury and later the Sun as they traverse Virgo. The Moon in Pisces trines Mars in Cancer as her last aspect of this lunation and eclipse season.
The Moon enters Aries at 7:37 PM PT on Saturday, August 29th.
