Ikigai (pronounced like ee-kee-guy) is a beautiful Japanese concept that describes a purposeful way of living that can bring immense joy and satisfaction. It is often used in the West for career development and personal development workshops.
The concept of ikigai is simple yet profound. It involves finding the sweet spot where you can do what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. The promise is that once we find our ikigai, we experience a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and meaning in our lives.
However, finding your ikigai can be challenging. It requires self-reflection, introspection, and a deep understanding of what truly matters to you. It's more than finding a good job or pursuing a passion.
Many people struggle to find their ikigai, and they’re not alone. Erin tried to complete her ikigai multiple times but failed to produce anything useful or accurately capture how she generally experienced the concept of ikigai. It was all a little ho-hum and sterile.
Like any good framework, they are not supposed to be static but a living, breathing entity that evolves over time. Erin continually got stuck until she thought about using her birth chart's planets, signs, and houses to get to a working model quicker. And then everything clicked.
In this two-part online workshop, Erin will show you how to apply the natal astrology in your birth chart to the Japanese concept of ikigai. The curriculum is beginner-friendly, though an astrology background or familiarity with your natal chart is helpful. You will need a copy of your natal chart in Whole Sign Houses. Check out this video to learn more about how to get that.
