Three reasons I don’t cast spells for others

The following is my opinion only. Always defer to your own intuition.

One of my current offerings is Ritual Design, and so when folks come across my work via the internet or social media, I sometimes get this question, “Do you cast spells for other people? And how much do you charge?” The short answer is no, but I thought I’d take the opportunity to explain why.

First, this is not a judgment against spellcasters or people who want someone to cast a spell for them. It does not bother me what other people do in this regard. My point of view stems from my own personal gnosis and current practice, and in case you are curious as to why, then read on, dear reader.

My spiritual calling is to assist folks in finding their own path and practice.

A colorful moth rests on a dandelion.

While I understand there are valid reasons for folks wanting or needing spellcasters to work on their behalf, it is not part of my work at the present time. I am here to guide and assist individuals in reconnecting with themselves, their values, beliefs, desires, and the natural world around them.

Suppose I insert myself into that equation for you (especially into one of the most amazing experiences available as an earthbound human). In that case, I remove an opportunity for you to grow your own spiritual connection, which subverts my calling. I want you to have an unmediated experience of empowerment and transformation from your spiritual connection.

I am an ordinary human who has chosen to answer my calling, which awakened me to an enchanted and magickal life. While not for everyone, it is available to anyone. And I’d be more than happy to help you get there.

When you are directly involved, the results are superior.

This is not because I am not powerful enough, but rather, when you sit in the seat of the Creatrix, you tap into the powerful yin aspect of creation energy and become a co-creator with the Divine, Spirit, and the natural world. Your own unique energy, which is beautifully and magically specific only to you, is added to the mix. This partnership with the creative forces of the universe makes all the difference as you become an active participant in shaping your reality and calling in your desires.

The intelligence of Spirit can see beyond our limited understanding and often delivers more than we could ever imagine. By co-creating with Spirit, we tap into a vast reservoir of creative potential that can help us achieve our goals and lead more connected, fulfilling lives.

In other words, your direct participation via emotion and intention are the most essential ingredients for magick to work.

Spellcasting may result in unintended consequences.

While minor spells exist, the kind that ends up in my backyard tend to be big requests requiring consent from all parties to be conducted ethically. While I am not immune to the suffering of my fellow humans experiencing grief and heartbreak, some requests are impossible to fulfill on someone else’s behalf without treading on questionable territory. Rather than cast a spell to bring your estranged lover back to you, I’d prefer to work with you to align your values, desires, and behaviors with what Spirit has in mind, knowing that if your lover is meant to return, they will.

Big spells also require a lot of energy to launch your intention into the world effectively and need care and feeding afterward. And there is always the risk of blow-back when a spell’s energy does not bind with the intended target but ends up binding to the caster instead. And I am only willing to risk that on my own spells.

What is Ritual Design?

Ritual is a powerful tool to help us align ourselves with our desired outcomes in the material world. We create more interrelatedness by connecting spiritually, energetically, emotionally, and intellectually with our inner selves. Each day is an opportunity to connect, discover your true desires, and create positive life changes.

My current offering, Ritual Design, starts with our meeting over Zoom for about an hour. We discuss your desire, what you value, and anything getting in the way. Then, using traditional astrology techniques, we will review your natal or birth chart to identify any strengths or proclivities for specific energies that may benefit you while working on your petition. Next, we discuss your current practices, comfort level, activities you enjoy, things that please you, and finally, how much time you have available regularly.

Then, I work independently on creating a proposed design, and we meet again to review, or I send you a recording of a walkthrough if preferred. You get a detailed PDF of your personalized Ritual Design. The instructions will guide you through creating your altar and performing your daily practice, which will help you stay connected with your intentions and desired outcomes.

In my experience, ritual is practical, more sustainable, and safer than spellcasting for someone new to magickal practice. The idea is small, deliberate daily steps build your own relationships and connections with Spirit. Most of us would not propose marriage on a first date, and spiritual practice is no different. For it to have merit, a relationship needs to exist. And it does not need to be labor-intensive or complicated. Instead, it needs to be accessible.
